US Open Rafael Nadal narrowly escapes defeat

New York: The famous Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal narrowly escaped defeat in the first round of the US Open. Rafael Nadal, who faced Australian young player Renky Hijikata in the first round, lost four in the first set. Defeated in six sets, however, Rafael Nadal collected himself in the second round and defeated his young rival with ease six to three to level the match at one and then won the third set six to three to advance to the second round. Banali, in another first-round match, played earlier, Spain's Carlos Alcarez also reached the second round after his opponent Sebastian Baez of Argentina withdrew from the match due to unfitness.
