Recognized nor allowed to operate |
Pakistan's Ministry of Defense has said that organizations acting as ex-servicemen's societies are neither recognized nor allowed to operate.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Ministry of Defense referred to Pakistan Ex-Servicemen Society and Veterans of Pakistan and said that it neither recognizes nor endorses the activities of these organizations.
"These arrangements solicit support or funds for charitable purposes, flood relief, public service or the promotion of one's ideas," according to the statement.

The Ministry of Defense further says that the Ministry of Defense has formulated comprehensive policy guidelines for the functioning or management of ex-servicemen's societies.
The statement warned that "organizations not complying with the principles of the policy will be criminalized and face severe consequences."
