Shahbaz Gill case, the deadline for submission of court records to the police |
On Saturday, Additional Sessions Judge Tahir Mehmood Supra heard the post-arrest bail application.
The investigating officer on behalf of the police could not reach the court once again, while the prosecution lawyer Rizwan Abbasi said that "even if the police present the records today, they will not be able to give arguments, time will be required for preparation."
It should be noted that on Friday, the court gave a day's respite to the police authorities and ordered the investigating officer to appear with the records.
According to the police, the investigation officer of the case has gone to Karachi for investigation. During the hearing on Friday, the court had directed to call the police from Karachi immediately.
During the hearing on Saturday, the police officials said that there was contact with the investigating officer but he has not reached Islamabad yet.
The Additional Sessions Judge directed that the investigating officer be contacted and the court informed. The police officials told the court that the phone of the investigating officer was being switched off, so contact was not possible.
Shehbaz Gill's lawyer argued in court that the police authorities are using delaying tactics and it is very excessive.
The lawyer said that this is a consistent attitude of the police in this case.
Prosecution lawyer Rizwan Abbasi pleaded for respite from the court and said that even if the investigating officer presents the record today, I will not be able to give arguments because the record has yet to be seen and preparations have to be made.
Rizwan Abbasi requested for an extension till Monday, on which the Additional Sessions Judge adjourned the hearing till August 29, giving the last chance to the police to present the records till Monday.
