Nine people have been killed and 17 injured due to rains and floods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province during the last 24 hours. In a statement issued by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) on Saturday, it has been said that three people have been killed and 13 injured as a result of the rains in Peshawar. Relief activities are underway in Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber district, and South Waziristan
PDMA has released another three crore rupees for the rain and flood-affected victims of DI Khan. The district administration of Dera Ismail Khan has said that four relief camps have also been established at different places.PDMA has said that it has issued instructions to the district administration to speed up the relief operations. It should be noted that Balochistan and Sindh have also been severely affected by floods and torrential rains.
The death toll in Balochistan has reached 196, while the provincial government has said that at least 35 billion rupees are needed to repair the damage caused by the flood and to rehabilitate the victims. On Thursday, the US government announced an aid of 1 million dollars for protection from natural disasters in Pakistan.
US Secretary of State Anthony Blanken said in a tweet on Thursday, "We stand with Pakistan in this difficult time and are helping those affected by the floods."He further said 'Apart from immediate aid of one hundred thousand dollars, the US government has also announced one million dollars for protection from natural disasters and we will continue to work together to reduce the effects of the climate crisis. 'Before the US Secretary of State, Donald Bloom, the US ambassador to Pakistan, announced a one hundred thousand dollar aid to help the flood-affected people in Pakistan.
