The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has banned all TV channels from broadcasting the speech of former Prime Minister and Chairman Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan.
In a statement issued by Pemra late on Saturday night, all TV channels have been instructed not to telecast Imran Khan's live speech and address, however, Imran Khan's recorded speech can be telecast.
The statement added that 'Imran Khan's speech has been banned under Section 27 of the PEMRA Ordinance 2002.'
'Imran Khan's recorded speech can also be shown under the time delay mechanism to enable monitoring and editorial control of these speeches as per PEMRA rules.'
PEMRA has said that Imran Khan has been making baseless allegations against state institutions, his statements against state institutions and officials, referring to several speeches of Imran Khan in F-Nine Park Islamabad. Article 19 is also violated.
It should be remembered that Imran Khan while addressing a public gathering at F-Nine Park Islamabad on Saturday night said that 'Shahbaz Gul was picked up as if he was a big traitor, Islamabad IG, DIG we will not leave you We will file a case against you.
Addressing the lady magistrate, Imran Khan further said that you knew that he (Shahbaz Gill) had been wronged, and yet you did not grant him bail. Magistrate Zeba, you also get ready, we will take action against you too.
After Imran Khan's speech, the parties involved in the government coalition issued a joint statement in which the statement of Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan was condemned.
The statement said that we strongly condemn Imran Khan's speech delivered at F-Nine Park Islamabad on Saturday night, in which he was threatened by the name of a female magistrate.
In the speech, an attempt was made to intimidate the IG and DGI Police Islamabad. These threats are blatant bullying and lawlessness. The treacherous foreign-aided party and the recipient of foreign funding is its chairman who has plotted a coup in the Pakistani army.'
The statement urged the Supreme Judiciary to take immediate notice of Imran Khan's threat to the female magistrate by name.
