The Election Commission has issued notices of 'contempt to the Election Commission to Tehreek-e-Insaf leaders Asad Umar and Fawad Chaudhary along with former Prime Minister Imran Khan. A statement issued by the Election Commission spokesperson on Friday said that Imran Khan, Asad Umar and Fawad Chaudhary "used unparliamentary language and made insulting statements in their speeches".
The Election Commission has directed the leaders of Tehreek-e-Insaaf to appear in person or through a lawyer on 30 August 2022. The spokesman says that 'Imran Khan was sent a notice of contempt of the Election Commission on the allegations against the Chief Election Commissioner.
According to the notice, Imran Khan made baseless allegations against the Election Commission in Bhakkar Jalsa, Imran Khan made an insulting speech and made accusations in his address to the public on July 18.
The notice states that Imran Khan made derogatory remarks against the Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan on July 21 and 27 as well. The notice of the Election Commission of Pakistan has said that the Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan should appear in person or through a lawyer on August 30 at 10 am.
