Islamabad: Legal experts and political colleagues are giving conflicting advice to Imran Khan to deal with the contempt of court case that started in the Islamabad High Court.
The court summoned them in private on Tuesday to respond to the show cause notice. According to sources, Imran Khan's colleagues are advising him to stand his ground as his attitude is paying off and making him a popular leader of the country.
Imran Khan's colleagues are of the opinion that ever since Imran Khan has taken the path of confrontation, his popularity has been increasing exponentially with each passing day, so there is no need to back down. He is of the opinion that we will deal with these elements and if we are indecisive now, the image that has been built up over the years will be destroyed.
According to sources, Imran Khan's aides are reminding him that history has proven that popular leaders are not harmed by flouting rules and regulations, authorities dare not touch a genuine political leader. Sources say that Imran Khan considers this advice good, but at the same time, his legal experts are giving him contrary advice that his political career may be destroyed by taking such a stand.
He has told Imran Khan that obstructing the path of law is a serious crime and authorities can take serious action against it. They say that as soon as we come to power, look at such elements who are working against us. If we take the path of fighting, irreparable damage can be done. In this regard, the consultation discussion continued till late at night.
If Imran Khan apologizes, it may help him but it is likely that the court will not readily accept the apology immediately. Sources say that the leaders of the Non-League were punished and disqualified by the Supreme Court in 2018 even though they tendered an unconditional apology in the contempt of court case.
